as the cradle of the Industrial Revolution, the Derwent valley was
transformed by innovations in the silk and cotton trades and the
construction of the first mills. The development of this new factory
system changed the world and as a result the
Derwent Valley was awarded World Heritage status.
The
amazing achievements and colourful personal stories of the entrepreneurs
are recounted by Gwen with a large cast of characters depicting everyday
life over 200 years ago. |
